Trivia

Among the possibles for the role of Wyatt Earp (John Alderson) in Doctor Who: The Gunfighters.

Born in Poland, but lived in Canada from early childhood. His accent eminently qualified him to play Americans in British films and TV during the 1950s and 60s.

Best-known for playing Felix Leiter in Goldfinger and the paleontologist Roney in BBCs Quartermass and the Pit.

He became famous in Britain in 1958 when he took over the role of Captain Queeg from Hollywood star Paul Douglas in a live TV broadcast of "The Caine Mutiny Court Martial". Douglas had come to London especially to repeat his stage success in the role, but was taken ill (possibly with the heart trouble which killed him the following year). Linder had been hired by the BBC as his understudy in the role, and did the live performance on less than 24 hours notice. He won rave reviews, and subsequently enjoyed large roles in British TV for many years.
