Banyak banget istilah perkapalan kuno yang bikin puyeng, sudah kebayang susahnya nerjemahin novel ini ke bahasa Indonesia (itu juga kalo ada penerbit yang tertarik buat nerbitin versi Indonesianya). Gara-gara versi filmnya termasuk favoritku, jadi pas baca novel ini yang kebayang tampang Russel Crowe kalo baca nama Jack Aubrey, dan tampang Paul Bettany kalo baca nama Stephen Maturin.

This has become my favourite fictional series. The depth and development of the characters, and especially the interactions and growing relationship between Aubrey and Maturin, are the defining features.

Did this book get better in the second half, or did i just get more into the story and less worried about the terminology i couldn't understand and was too lazy to look up? anyway, if it takes until the second half of the first book of a 17 22 book series to hit its stride, i guess that's okay.

The books are now available in hardcover, paperback, and e-book format.In addition to the Aubrey-Maturin novels, Patrick O'Brian wrote several books including the novels Testimonies, The Golden Ocean, and The Unknown Shore, as well as biographies of Joseph Banks and Picasso. He translated many works from French into English, among them the novels and memoirs of Simone de Beauvoir, the first volume of Jean Lacouture's biography of Charles de Gaulle, and famed fugitive Henri Cherriere's memoir Papillon.
