Good description of a whitewater trip plus good characterizations of the people on the trip. Easy read, good summer book.

Elizabeth Hyde's novel, The Heart of the Canyon, is an absorbing read, full of terrific character development that led me to feel great empathy for every single character in the book. Her writing places emphasis on letting the reader get to know what is at the heart of being human and what is at the heart of relationships through the veneer-stripping experience of a 13 day trip down the Grand Canyon.

It's nearly impossible for me to summarize this book. For a few days, this was my own personal Colorado River adventure.
