This book is way too granular, you'll fall asleep during the first chapter. Use this as a reference for a specific cisco security topic rather than a preparation guide.
I have always gone with the certification guides but read something about the Foundation Learning Guides - while I haven't sat for the exam yet - I feel like I have a much better time understanding the material with the FLG. If you are serious about being knowledgeable with CCNA Security - I highly recommend the book.
I am not studying for the 640-554 exam; however I wanted to learn more about IINS; specifically I wanted to learn about the Catalyst Switch security features.When learning anything Cisco I always choose Cisco Press book, they are the best guides for me to learn with.
